Let me tell you… you never know what our classrooms might be up to! Today, some of our little learners kicked off Fire Prevention Week with a fun, hands-on activity — “putting out a fire.” Don’t worry, not a real one!

At daycare, stepping outside isn't just about burning energy or "extra fun time"—it’s a powerful way to spark growth across key developmental domains it’s an essential part of your child’s development.

Exploring different sensory experiences is an important part of learning and development. When children are given the chance to get a little messy, they’re building creativity, problem-solving skills, and even strengthening fine motor muscles. A favorite activity in our classrooms is using shaving cream on the tables—it’s fun, inexpensive, and educational! Not only does it give children a wonderful sensory experience, but we also use it as a playful way to practice writing letters and shapes with their fingers.Because we love offering these kinds of hands-on activities, we always encourage parents to keep spare clothes at school so children can dive right in without worry. Getting messy is part of the fun, and we want every child to fully enjoy the experience!Please note: before introducing any sensory material that contains fragrance (like shaving cream, lotions, or soaps), we are always mindful to check for possible allergies. We also take a quick photo of the product we’re using, just in case a reaction occurs, so parents know exactly what their child came into contact with.

At daycare, one of the most joyful sights is children diving into a box of costumes—putting on capes, crowns, or construction hats, and instantly transforming into superheroes, chefs, doctors, or princesses. What may look like simple play is actually powerful learning in action.

Sometimes small children experience very big emotions. For little ones, those feelings can be overwhelming because they don’t always have the words to explain what’s going on inside. That’s where adults can step in and help by giving those emotions a name.

Sensory bins are more than just fun play—they are powerful learning tools that support many areas of child development. By exploring materials such as sand, rice, water, beads, or themed objects, children engage their senses in ways that strengthen both learning and emotional growth.
